The new Linkedin profiles are really interesting and quite a departure from the their predecessors.
Having bedded in across the network for a while, many people are starting to explore new ways if interacting.
There are however possibly a number of flaws with the new profiles. Here’s a nifty one if you are in sales and marketing.
Who are my competitors connected to?
Visit the profile page of someone you want to find out who their customers are.
Click on the ‘Company ‘ dropdown on the right hand sidebar. (This doesn’t seem to appear on every profile you visit – no idea why)
You will notice that the central circle probably contains people who they are most connected to – usually their current employer
Hover over the other circles. You will notice that some of these circles are other companies. In many cases, a sales person will be connected to several people at one company. I checked out some that I know already and lo and behold, these are their biggest customers.
The trick with this is that although most people block access to their connections, this approach brings the companies they are most connected to into plain view.
